Woke up an hour early.

Some people wake up early day of a time change.

I do it the day after.

Ah well. Look at what I did with my extra hour! http://osu.facebook.com/album.php?aid=786663&l=3dc87

And I thought I was having a bad day

so i woke up yesterday morning at 8:38. my first class starts at 8:30, so i got dressed in a hurry and ran to class. it was pretty irritating because this was the first time i've been late to class. on the way back i asked a friend of mine who lives four floors down if i could photocopy his notes. i proceeded to do so, and went down four floors to return his notebook, but there were a lot of policemen and somebody standing guard at his pod door. i figured there was some sort of party bust, so i decided to come back later. 90 minutes later i went down and the pod was cordoned off with police tape, and some woman took the notebook to return it to him. i thought that was weird, and mentioned it to my podmates. one of them went down to the front desk and asked what was up with floor 17. the person manning the front desk told him.

somebody died.

how does that happen?

Yah, one of those re-evaluations

So Sunday night at the math H190 review session, I was sitting there thinking to myself "wow. This is interesting, and I want to be able to do this sort of thing... but I really don't wanna do this another quarter".

So I dropped H191 and picked up Philosophy 431 (ethics).

It's weird... math has always been one of my things. However, I suppose that the signs that I'm not better than above average and interested have been showing for some time in standardized test scores and such.

At least my interests are narrowing and becoming more specific.

And also I have only one class at 1:30 Mondays and Fridays, and never have a class before 10:30. That's good.

In other news, I've got that website up!

http://students.cohums.ohio-state.edu/~pate30/

I've probably shamelessly peddled it to most of you, but here it is again

*peddle peddle peddle*

Whaddayathink? Any ideas on content? I hope for this to be a relatively serious academic website, at least once I've done some decent research.

ahh

So I've been in college about a month and it's great. I scheduled my courses for next quarter, and they look interesting... I've got a course on syntax taught by the head of the linguistics department who just wrote a book on syntax this past summer. We should be getting into some real stuff too, because it's a 500 level course. I've also got this spanish 250 course that makes me eligible for study abroad in spain, if I pass the SLRPE (Spanish Language ... Proficiency Exam I think). That's happy because study abroad might actually be cheaper than study at OSU because of my scholarship.

I've also got crazy Math H191 and Philosophy 250, which is Symbol Logic. I think my head might start tilting to the left because I'm beefing up my logic so wild.

And I've got this interesting freshman seminar: The Myth of the Traditional Marriage: The Development of Marriage in Western Societies.

It's a one credit-hour seminar that'll keep me busy and thinking.

All in all 20 hrs.

Oh and the dorm room is great. Click here to see the moon at sunrise from 21 stories up. Yes that is my personal website. There's nothing there yet. I will probably post my research paper for linguistics there though, when I have time to get a decent website together.

I might add more later, but krissy gets out of class soon so we'll probably grab some lunch in a bit. Plus I need to get back to studying for the anthropology midterm.
